After a screening call with the recruiter; they sent me a technical assignment. Even though the recruiter stressed that a previous experience on Kotlin was unnecessary; the technical assignment required implementing a service from scratch using Kotlin. I had to use the majority of the my time trying to learn Kotlin and submitted an assignment that actually worked. However, they rejected my submission and provided me with a feedback that mainly focuses on Kotlin specific features. It has been a huge waste of my time to spend on this assignment since I specifically expressed that I'm not experienced with Kotlin which turned out to be the biggest evaluation criteria for them.
