I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Ban Som Phone) in Aug 2021
Interview
Recruiter call followed by two rounds of phone interviews.
Recruiter call was formality to assess the interest.
The first call was around my experience and picking a project to do a tech and process deep dive. Waiting period for result: 3 days.
Second round with HM - Started the call with “you were highly rated” in previous round - Qs were around deep dive into sprints, team management, planning, data analysis, and system design.
Waiting period for the result: Here is where it gets interesting (Ghosting starts) email back and forth on updates: Day2 still waiting… Day3 still waiting…Day4 still waiting .. might have update in a day.. Day5 still waiting… for sure tomorrow… Day6.. I have an update… let’s talk over the phone. “The HM recommended you for in person interview. But, this position has been internally filled. I am going to talk to couple of folks and see if there are any open positions.”
2+ weeks passed by- crickets… emailed the recruiter… crickets…
Irony: got selected for in person that never happened.
HR is very helpful. He provided me tons of documentations to prep the interview which includes types of questions. They also provide example questions and answers. The HR spent two calls to guide me through the interview process and how to prep the interview.
Normal 5 loop interview. No surprises. No coding interview. Nothing out of the ordinary. All remote. Very helpful recruiter. Hiring Manager interview was a bit odd, but maybe I was tired
Phone screening by HR. Regular tell me about yourself question, and emphasis on being technical as a must. There will be quite a few rounds of interview, and the first one will contain a system design validating your technical skills.
