I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2010
Interview
Interview process was a bit long a drawn out. Three phone screens and an HR call over 2 weeks, followed by a day on campus interviewing. The in-person interviews were mostly 1:1 45 minutes discussions with a "round robin" interview at the end where there was a panel of 3 (including hiring manager) conducting the final interview.
1:1 interviews consisted of a random sampling of resume walks, case interviews, and personality/leadership type questions.
most frequent question was the resume walk with focus on specific experiences in your career.
Case questions were very open ended and had the majority had something related to what the business group was doing. I was asked about vendor management, supply chain, and some financial questions (ROI, Break even, Margin, etc).
The favorite tactic is asking the vague case question and then following your answer with "what else would you do." Eventually you are supposed to draw the line, but it's difficult sometimes to gauge when.
It had 6 rounds- heavily focussed on leadership principles. they really do cross question almost every other example.......... You get multiple interviewers across the organisation. I thought- the questions were repetitive after one point.
