The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Bath & Body Works (Houston, TX) in Nov 2010
Interview
I went into the store to turn in my application and on the spot she set up an interview for the following wednesday. I had my interview with 2 other females with only 1 interviewer. About 1 week later I followed up on my interview as I had not heard anything from them. They told me that they had been busy and that they would look into my file as soon as possible. Within another 4-5 days they called me and offered me the position. I had to NO drug test and they didn't call any of my references.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bath & Body Works in Oct 2010
Interview
Group interview where you talked about good service. They know customers are really buying the experience as much as the products, so they like to see you've thought about what makes an exceptional shopping experience. Questions are identical to what I saw posted here.
For holiday help I also think that a lack of Black Friday and/or weekend availability are deal-breakers.
Roughly half of the women I saw at the interview later showed up for training, so I think it pays to prepare. Be confident but not rehearsed! I saw that happen and it didn't go over well.

Interview
Inquired in store, then returned when I knew store mgr would be there, got dressed nice, handed her my application and introduced myself so she's remember I go with that app, she called me back 2 wks later, invited me to group interview. Very friendly & energetic manager. We discussed as a group what we would do in certain situations, to see if we were outgoing & customer oriented, how we resolve conflict & upset customers, how we sell, what we like about the company, what our fav. fragrances/products are, and answered question about whether or not we'd buy products for friends, as a way to determine if we'd contribute to what they call "shrinkage" which is shoplifting. Basically wanted to find out who talks and says reasonable things and who is shy or says the wrong thing.
