I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bloomberg in Sep 2010
Interview
A recruiter posted the Job in July on Craigslist
2 months later Recruiter told me to apply for a job # on their web site
1 month later arranged for a phone interview
Phone interview was 1 person. It was 7am My time on West Coast. I prepared for two weeks studying algorithms, data structures etc.
None of those came up the interview was **All** C# questions.
I tier to create a rapor with the guy and gain some insight into the company culture but he was rather uninterested, obviously busy and in a hurry to get the interview over with.
So we launched into the C# question session .. the questions were in no particular order and followed one after the other at a furious pace. Anytime I mentioned something like 'delegate' or 'mutex' we wandered off on that tangent until he was satisfied that his knowledge was superior to mine and then we would move on with a 'grunt'.
None of the questions involved problem solving or architecture they were all nitty gritty C#/CLR type questions. Things you can look up on Wikipedia or MSDN in 10 minutes.
Needless to say some things I didn't know or got wring in hindsight.
But it all ended after about 50 minutes...
I then told him why I wanted to work there , what I like about the position etc
I could tell that I wasn't going to get another interview.
It's been two weeks and neither the Recruiter or the Company has got back to me ..but I still have hope lol

Interview
Had a telephonic interview first by 2 people who asked all C++ basics. Asked to design a simple object oriented hierarchy using any real world example. Then had a face-to-face. Met with 4 people one after the other. Got lot of questions on data structures using trees and their algorithms. Failed this one.

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bloomberg (City of London, England) in Aug 2010
Interview
Got an interview arranged through a recruiter for a very good team inside of Bloomberg. Got an email saying it will take 1 hr minimum, but to allow up to 3 hours. My recruiter explained that there are 3 stages, if you get past each stage, you get the next person coming. I was interviewed by a person I will be working with, then the head of the team, then the HR -- all in the same day. You just need to be good at computers and know what you are doing and you should be fine -- they need smart people and they know when they see one. Got everything from C/C++ questions, logic questions and more. The HR person then just came to sell the company to me. I loved the interview processes, the people and I love the culture, office and all the rest the job had to offer. Got a final interview via telephone from their head office arrange (which took about 3-4 days), which had the same type of question and I had the offer the next day. It was a no-brainer for me to accept it.
