They asked me to explain how document splitting works in New GL. I told them that document splitting is used to create balanced financial statements at the segment or profit center level. I explained how we define splitting rules and characteristics in customizing, and how the system automatically splits the accounting entries based on those rules. I also mentioned a case from my project where we activated document splitting to enable segment-wise reporting for legal and management purposes. The interviewer wanted to know how we handled zero balancing, so I explained how the system generates additional line items to ensure each segment is balanced
