I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Chess.com in Jul 2024
Interview
Initial call with the talent partner was great. They asked great questions, gave great context and were very pleasant to speak to. They made it very clear what the process would involve and responded to me quickly.
The next stage was similar, the hiring manager was pleasant to speak to and I felt it was easy to build a rapport quickly. When I asked to introduce myself, I mentioned some projects I had completed, some very relevant to the role, others relevant but to a much lesser extent. The interviewer decided to focus on one of these lesser relevant projects. They seemed very interested, asking lots of questions about the structure of the project, the benefits it gave, the response etc. and seemed happy with my answers.
I however did not get past this stage and was told simply the experience didn't seem to fit. I had a feeling this would happen as I felt we spent the entire time discussing a project that I myself felt wasn't entirely relevant to the ad. When I asked for more concise feedback I was unfortunately ghosted.
