I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Cisco (Toronto, ON) in Dec 2018
Interview
I had a great interview experience, with two way conversation. Not just asking about my but also what they are looking for, and discussing future growth opportunities. This was a common trend across multiple levels of interview that were conducted.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cisco (Research Triangle Park, NC) in Aug 2020
Interview
Truly a terrible interview experience. I'm shocked that a company of this size would conduct itself this way.
Long story short: after 5 rounds of Webex interviews with 9 different people (2 of the rounds were multi-person panels), consistently positive feedback from HR, and an emailed promise that the recruiter would "check in with an update" within the next few business days, I was completely ghosted. I repeatedly checked in with that recruiter as well as her subordinate via phone and email, and NEVER received any response. I had to check the job application portal to see that the position was apparently closed.
How does this HR team not have the decency to at least send a canned rejection email? Especially after the recruiter proactively says she'll check in with an update? Also, I was employed full-time while going through this process, so I had to juggle my schedule around and devoted a lot of time to prepping and doing the interviews. So unprofessional, so disrespectful, so disappointing. Please be more respectful of applicants' time, Cisco.
