Interview
I applied for a Product Designer role at TuoTempo. The process consisted of a take-home assignment followed by a one-hour interview with HR. Communication was clear and efficient from the start—HR promptly answered my questions and explained the steps, which made it easier to stay organized.
The take-home assignment was well-structured, involving a design critique and a high-fidelity mockup task. It allowed me to showcase my ability to analyze flows, prioritize issues, and propose improvements. However, I would have preferred if this extensive assignment had been moved to a later stage. Candidates are asked to invest significant time and effort before even having a conversation with someone from the team to understand the role and their expectations. Starting with a discussion would give candidates the opportunity to better align their work with what the company is looking for.
The HR interview was straightforward but focused more on process and general experience rather than detailed feedback on the assignment. Although the interview was helpful, I feel there was a missed opportunity to dig deeper into the design task itself.
Advice to Management:
Consider restructuring the interview process by having an initial conversation with candidates before assigning a take-home task. This would allow both sides to understand each other’s expectations and goals, improving the overall experience.
