The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Feb 2012
Interview
Epic contacted me after seeing my Resume on Monster. The phone interview went just fine, then they setup a skills test, had to take the test at a local university. I feel I did well on the first two sections of the test, but not so great on the programming section, I have not done any coding for over 3 years as I have been serving in the military, prior to military I was a software engineer for 5 years at a major competitor of Epics. I feel like a face to face interview for the coding/problem solving would have been a better way to show my abilities rather than a college like test.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard behavioral type questions from the phone interview, the skills test you had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so can't say anything about it.
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Apr 2012
Interview
People and culture seemed nice, but overrated. Everyone is very happy and appears to love Madison..not sure how genuine they are about working for Epic. Interview process:
1. Phone screen
2. Personality test
3. Fly out to Madison (all expenses paid)
Interview in Madison:
Went out to dinner with Epic employee the night before
Presentation of Software and Overview of company
Tour of campus
Group discussion about the position
1 on 1 interview with employee
1 on 1 interview with HR rep
Simulation/Case study
Lunch
10 minute presentation
Very long skills test (math, verbal, software)
It is extremely exhausting, by the end of the day I could barely think. I am very surprised they leave the testing until the end for that reason.
Overall, it was generally a good experience

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Mar 2012
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter that had seen my resume at my career services center at my university. I submitted my resume, and was sent an online personality test to fill out a few days later. The next step was a phone interview. I was contacted a few weeks later to schedule a trip up to Madison, which they paid for. They sent an employee to take me and a small group of other potential candidates for dinner and a short tour of the city. The interview day was the next day. It consisted of a structured schedule of different employees showing aspects of the company, as well as three tests to take in an hour and a half, that consisted of a verbal and reasoning test, and a programming logic type test. That was followed by one on one interviews. In the interview, they gave you several scenarios and asked to explain how you would work through them. The day ended with an HR interview, and a short, very limited time math test.
