From applying online to the phone interview took over 1 month and then a further two weeks untill being successful for their assessment day.
Upon arrival for the assessment day i was not collected from reception even though i had arrived 10 minutes early. I waited for approximately 1 hour until HR could be contacted to collect me. I found the HR staff to be extremely incompetent as the day before i was contacted to confirm my attendance. There was no attempt to check with reception if i had arrived or even try to contact me directly on my mobile.
The assessment day consisted of 2 group exercises and a one on one interview. The group tasks were fairly straight forward and related to the different areas within online marketing. No interview preparation is necessary as all of the information about the online marketing areas are explained fully at the start of the day (Note: they will start going through this information even if they have failed to collect you from reception/checked if you have arrived).
Having previously been told that we would be having 1 on 1 interviews with each of marketing team leaders, we were instead told on the day that we only had one interview instead of three separate interviews. I was surprised to find out that myself and a few others would be interviewed by staff from HR (Who do not work or have any experience in marketing). At this stage i was extremely disappointed as i knew this wasn't a good sign. I can only presume they had already decided who they wanted to hire after the group exercises, without giving everyone a fair opportunity to impress the marketing leaders.
My 1:1 interview, with arguably one of the worst members of HR, consisted of a simple and embarrassing "talk me through your cv" interview. Again this reinforced that I was not successful as i had already been through this in my telephone interview.
At the end of the interview i asked several questions such as "how many people are you hiring", "what is the start date" and "what is the most challenging element of this role". Unfortunately she was only able to answer my question regarding the start date. Also she asked me what i through of the working culture at Farfetch to which she informed me that the office was sometimes "very quite" and that this was because people were very hardworking and busy. This for me left a negative impression that suggested that Farfetch embraced that standoffish "fashion environment".
On the whole i found the HR team, especially one individual, to be extremely incompetent and lacked any kind of organisation. The actual marketing leads seemed very nice and more with it but the overall the experience/day left me with a bad impression of the company. The only feedback i could be given was that i "could of spent a bit longer reading over the group exercise questions", this feedback was pretty redundant like that of the HR team.
