Interview
I applied for a software engineer position in an internship program by sending an email directly to the manager. He forwarded my application to a hiring manager, and after that, he invited me to the office for a writing test.
Generally, you were allowed to complete the test within 1 hour 30 minutes. Interviewers came later after the time was up and asked you how you came up with the answers. You were required to explain your ideas in detail. Some interviewers might try to point out bugs and errors in your answers and ask you more difficult questions related to the questions in the original writing test.

Interview
For reference I was studying my master in InfoSecurity when I accepted to join Freelancer.
After being contacted via Linkedin by the director of people and talent at Freelancer, Joe Griston, we had a chat about the company and myself, what I had done and what I wanted to do etc. Following the phone call we agreed on a date in which to come into the office for an interview.
The interview involved meeting London's project manager and an engineering team lead, we talked for a while and then an exam of sorts, basically to find out what you know and how you figure out problems. The questions were not difficult but they were varied. After the test the engineering team lead went through the questions with me, discussing them as we went.
The next day I got a call with an offer and I gladly accepted as the team seemed like people you would love to work with, and they are. #teamlondon!
