Application
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GE in Nov 2014
Interview
Found job advertisement on the GE site applied with a standard CV and covering letter. Shortly after I was invited to complete online physcometric test, this consisted of a series of business scenarios and choosing out of four potential responses, what would be the most and least effective.
A few days later they scheduled a telephone interview with me, it consisted of motivational and competency based questions as well as asking me to talk about my degree and IT skills.
The questions that I remember were as follows:
- Why do you want to work for GE ?
- Can you give an example when you have faced a problem in a project and how you resolved it ?
- Can you give an example of when you have had to learn a new skill ?
I'm sure there was one more competency question but can't remember it.
I was very confident in my performance in the interview but unfortunately they did not continue with my application.

Question 1
I was expecting them to ask why I wanted to work in this position but they only asked about wanting to work for GE which I was expecting but had done more research into the specific position and plant I would be woking in rather than GE as a hole.
When I first got into the building I was met and accompanies by the HR to the waiting room. She was nice and kind. gave me some tips along the way. Two cheerful and warm engineers interviewed me. It was professional and to the point.
