Interview
I've applied online for the process, after some time I received an email asking me to answer some questions and following that a technical test.
After 3 weeks they reached out asking to schedule an interview, it was 2 hours with 3 engineers and the manager of the area.
3 days after the interview they asked to implement a system from scratch:
The logic of a recommendation system using the Jaccard similarity coefficient. I would need to deploy it in an AWS VM, I also needed to write the deploy and update scripts, along with the database, Kafka deploy, unit tests, and performance tests.
My first thought was that it was kind of too much to ask for a tech test but I did it.
I asked how much time would I have to complete it, and they answered "as much as I wanted", which felt odd.
After a week I sent my solution, they acknowledged that and told me to wait for a response.
2 weeks with no response I kindly asked for clarification and their manager said that they had talked about me that same week and they would give me an answer in the next days.
Another week had passed so I sent a new e-mail, and I got the same answer.
In the end, they never answered me.
I'm not saying that my solution was perfect or anything but after giving someone a task, even more for such a big one, for sure you own then an answer even if it is a negative feedback you own the candidate that.
