I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at HostGator.com (Houston, TX) in Feb 2011
Interview
I was first contacted by a Host Gator recruiter and informed about the position. Interview was quick and painless, I interviewed on a Monday, got a call back on a Friday, the person who interviewed me was a cool guy, nice and easy to actually speak too.
If you know your stuff, you'll do fine during the interview process, if you do not know the minimum why apply?
Either way, was a nice quick and painless interview they flew me out from California and also paid for my relocation. Finding a place was not too hard, took a painless 1 night to move into my new place.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is the difference between a Cname and an A Record
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at HostGator.com (Austin, TX) in Oct 2010
Interview
I applied online, received an e-mail to schedule an interview day and time. I was called and interviewed promptly on time. The questions weren't hard and consisted of basic linux skills. You wouldn't need any sort of job history to pass this, just need to know what you are doing with linux. I never even went to school, and still passed. If you can't pass this, then there is absolutely now way that you could ever do this job, so don't feel bad, just get another one.
I talked to the CTO for my interview, he was very nice. Some of the questions he asked, I was slightly unfamiliar with what he was asking, so I walked him through my thought processes, and he really enjoyed that.
Advice to any one in the future would be to learn basic linux skills. Questions consist of:
1. How to list mysql processes
2. How to do linux permissions (I.E. 777 - rwxrwxrwx)
3. Know DNS, CNAME, A Record, spf, txt, ptr, mx
4. Know how to list processes on the machine, and kill them
5. Know how to mitigate attacks against a server
6. Know what LAMP means, as well as general terms for current technology
7. Be polite, and honest.

Interview
Quick interview over the phone that was very uncomfortable and fast paced. I was interviewed by the deputy CTO who was very rude and cut me off numerous times. His questions were all technical with no personal history. Coming right out of college, he shouldn't expect the person he is interviewing to be an expert at everything.
