Johnson & Johnson Sr. Software Engineer interview questions

The interviewing process lasted more than 5 months. It was a tiring process to have at the end an "offer" for a lower position?? I applied for Senior developer and I should have been rejected or offered a position for what I applied not for a lower grade. The final interview was very bad having a "just promoted" senior developer to test my "python syntax" skills in a board which had no compiler. Guess the interviewer had a hard time getting into the senior position themselves.
