I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Meta (New York, NY)
Interview
I was phone screened by a recruiter and quickly moved to on-site interviews.
I was flown out to land at 11pm in JFK and travel to the hotel in downtown New York for an all-day round starting at 10am the following day and to fly out a few hours after the interviews.
My interviewers were mostly from one type of role, limiting my range of questions and made it difficult to judge my own interest in the company. They seemed to be trained and had similar interviewing techniques, though some are more articulate than others. Often the questions were extremely open-ended with little direction besides the proposal and I felt left to try to read the room to move the conversation.
I did not receive an update for days after the expected feedback period until I emailed a check in. The second update wasn't received until my referrer got involved and was told I would receive a call the following week. The rejection email was sent at the end of the expected day instead of a call. I replied with a request for more detail on the feedback and have yet to receive a response.
I expected a level of professionalism even if I was no longer considered a potential candidate that I did not receive.
I was then billed for the hotel stay.
Interview was easy. There was 1 technical and 2 coding problem in 45 minutes. I completed the first coding question. Before starting the second question, I was told, the interview does not expect the complete solution due to the non availability of time. I was asked to come up with the logic and write up the pseudo code. My logic was accepted and I wrote the pseudocode and the interviewer accepted it.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Meta (Menlo Park, CA) in Dec 2017
