The interview process is extensive beginning with a screening call and often followed by three or four additional rounds. While thoroughness is important, the length and intensity can feel disproportionate to the role.
Nike’s high standards are part of its competitive advantage. However, the process can sometimes feel overly critical rather than developmental. In striving for perfection, strong candidates may be overlooked particularly those who bring intangible qualities like leadership, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
The brand is powerful. The people are what make it great. A hiring approach that balances rigor with humanity would strengthen an already iconic company.
