I applied online. I interviewed at Niantic (Tóquio)
Interview
Unprofessional. This was the second interview which was going to be more technical and a discussion about my previous projects with the hiring manager (technical artist). He was 30 min late (and did not extend the interview), was unprepared and yawning constantly. As he didn't want to speak English, although the position was for an English speaker, he just wanted to end the meeting. Did not ask me any technical questions and didn't want to discuss anything. Promised to book another meeting but instead dropped me because of "lack of experience". Also he suggested I left the country. I expected more from a former Google company.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Niantic (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2021
Interview
Process took ~1 month start-end.
Screening interview by HR, then given to a direct manager.
There seemed to be no screening on if this direct manager knows HOW to go about an interview. My experience was very script-reading, cold, no personal questions.
There's another interview review here by a Data Scientist on Sep 20, 2021 that I'd echo in its entirety here.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I'll tell you a part of the dev pipeline, and then give me your comfort level with that 1-10.
Included shader writing, optimizing builds, general modeling, C#, MEL, etc.
I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Niantic (Bellevue, WA) in Jun 2019
Interview
The process took roughly 4-5 weeks.
- Phone screen with HR (20-30 mins)
- Technical phone interview (30-40 mins)
- Onsite interview (~4 hrs)
- Phone chat with manager (~10 mins)
The onsite interview divided into four 45 minute interviews with the manager, lead and people in the team. There was also a 30 min coffee walk.
During the interview, there were both technical question and culture fit check. There was a lot of question about work experience and pipeline. There was also some case study question like what will you do if something happens and how would you solve this problem.
I enjoy the interview experience a lot. Everyone was very nice, encouraging and passionate about their work. I had a great conversation and learned a lot about the company and the roles.
