I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Okta in Mar 2025
Interview
Phone screen with HR, Zoom meeting with two managers, a take home assignment (unpaid), and a presentation panel interview with two managers, head of the department, and a team member.
There was a bit of disorganization from the get go. I had to follow up a lot to get information. The head of the department didn't show up to the final round interview, which is strange considering this person would be my main boss. The lack of interest in meeting me was off-putting. Then, after following up to get info on my status, I immediately received a rejection email, which was clearly a template because certain pieces of the email were left blank that the recruiter couldn't even be bothered to fill in. If I hadn't followed up, I would have for sure been ghosted. I probably dodged a bullet.

Question 1
What interests you about working at Okta? How would you handle working with people who are just beginning their careers?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Okta
Interview
I had an interview scheduled with a recruiter at Okta, Lavanya Shahani, and unbelievably—she missed it twice. No notice, no explanation, no follow-up. Just straight-up didn’t show up. Twice.
I spent two weeks preparing for this interview. I was genuinely excited about the opportunity and took it seriously. But clearly, that effort didn’t matter to Okta at all. The complete lack of respect and professionalism was honestly outrageous.
For a company that prides itself on innovation and professionalism, this was a joke. I have the receipts—emails, screenshots—everything. And if this is how Okta treats people before they even join, I can only imagine what it’s like on the inside.
At this point, I’m not even sure why I’d want to keep going with a company that treats candidates like they’re disposable. I’ll be sharing this experience on Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Reddit, and anywhere else I think people should know.
Terrible recruiter!

Question 1
She no-showed twice. Absolutely incompetent. And this person is a Lead Recruiter at Okta? Honestly, I have no idea how someone like that still has a job.
First is a recruiter call where it kinda gauges your experiences and fit for the role, then a Hiring Manager, followed by a Panel Interview and then an interview with the Chief Officer.
