I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Okta in Jul 2024
Interview
Step 1) Interview with internal recruiter. Top level interview to get all expectations in line. Was really incredible to work with!
Step 2) Hiring Manager Interview. Talked with the team lead/hiring manager. More nitty gritty details. Had a nice talk. After the call I had gotten an email that they had liked my technical background and skills and after the talk felt the senior position would be more appropriate.
Step 3) Take home assessment. Easily the best take home. They are super understanding about how much time people realistically have between life, family, and more likely their current job. I was given a week to complete.
Step 4) Team Interview. I was under the impression this would be a more technical interview. However, it was very much not. It felt like the same exact "icebreaker" questions that we had done in the previous interview. Which I don't mind, but considering it had already been done and was touted as a technical so I could show them what I knew. It was very off putting. I want to be very clear: the team was wonderful! I loved talking to everyone there. It's just the process was a little weird.
Also due to scheduling conflicts over a holiday weekend (things happen, it being pushed back was entirely fine with me) I had tried to get them to send over the assessment to finish it over the weekend. The request was quickly denied, which seemed like a huge red flag.
I ended up not getting either position due to my lack of "technical abilities". I never got an opportunity to show them so this definitely rubbed the wrong way.
I applied online. I interviewed at Okta (Dallas, TX)
Interview
Recruiter reached for screening, explained about the role and customer success motion in Okta but they didn't match up the salary expectation from my current employer and rejected me for that reason
Pretty straight forward with interviews with recruiter, team, and HM. Asked behavioral questions regarding recruiting for roles and partnering with HMs during the recruiting process. Everyone was very thoughtful int heir questions and it never felt like I was repeating myself
