Interview
Typical SWE interview process, there were multiple rounds with typical leetcode and design questions. They took a really long time to get back after the last round, had to email them multiple times.
Recruiter reached out to me initially via Linkedin, asked for resume beyond that provided by Linkedin, and booked half an hour. Clearly didn't bother to take any time to look at any of my more than applicable skillset and basically asked me to regurgitate resume info by attaching years to experience on specific languages. Interview trail ended there with automatic response from a system I never actually applied to - solid waste of time.

Question 1
"How many years experience in load balancers do you have"
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Okta
Interview
Initial phone screen with recruiter. Followed by several interviews with hiring manager, member of sales, renewals, CS peers.
From the onset, I was extremely transparent with salary expectations. I was told a competitive offer could be made upon conclusion of the interview process. Fast forward through a lot of great conversations and positive
signals, I was then “verbally presented an offer package by recruiter”.
This package was net neutral from what I was making today. I was told there were some geographic controls around pay that were keeping them from being able to make a more compelling offer. I made a reasonable counter and was told by the recruiter that she would get with the hiring manager to see what they could do...
Radio silence for days and then receive a canned email stating they would not be moving forward with an offer
and thanked me for my time. Asked for some feedback as to why(as transparency is one of their core values), and never heard back.
Interview process was great but experience with recruiter left a sour taste in my mouth on this company. Maybe they found someone they liked better, maybe they couldn’t make a compelling offer, etc. Maybe a requisition got pulled. These things can happen. At the end of the day, we are all adults and transparency is always appreciated. Especially when we invest our time and energy into the interview process.
