I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at PLOS (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2017
Interview
The process consisted of an initial video interview, lasting about 30 minutes, using a platform called Zoom. The sound quality was truly awful (mostly due to echo-y room and the mic being used) so it was hard to pretty hard to hear. Questions were pretty much exactly what other interviewers here have described, though more tailored to my experiences/responses.
The second round consisted of two 30 minute interviews, a mix of speaking over video and in-person. Though the questions were mostly more of the same, I got a couple questions beyond that which felt a bit like "gotcha" questions, which seemed to expect me to have experience beyond what I'd stated, and definitely beyond that described in the job description. But maybe I just didn't know what they were getting at! Overall, it was a perfectly acceptable interview experience, if a bit more pointed and impersonal in the second round.
However, I was mildly displeased with the way I was notified of my rejection. I was told it would take a week to hear back, so after not hearing back, I followed up with the person I spoke with. I got no response, but received an automatic notice of rejection a few days later. If I was just going to be rejected in this way, I'm not sure why it had to take so long.

Interview
The process was pretty straightforward. I applied online and was contacted for a video call interview a few days later. The interview was not too challenging, but I did not advance to the next stage of the application process, probably due to an obvious lack of interest and preparation.

Interview
I applied online at the PLOS website and received an email approximately two weeks later requesting an interview. Before the interview, I had to complete a quick written exercise and email it to HR. At the time, I was living outside of the United States so I had the interview using Zoom. This interview was conducted by two employees. About a week later, I was contacted for a second interview which I completed in person at the PLOS office. I was interviewed by three employees. A week or so later, I was contacted and offered the job (which I unfortunately had to decline for personal reasons).
