I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Jun 2017
Interview
Did fairly easy take-home challenge. Went throw multiple rounds of phone screens. Their process is quite cryptic and there was nothing during the interviews felt like they determined my technical ability. The personality interview was fairly lax however. At the end of the day, I kinda just left feeling confused.

Mostly just work experience and personality questions.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Mar 2018
Interview
Phone screen with HR representative , followed by three part in person interview ('life story', technical interview), and then later another 5 part interview: two more technical interviews, and three more auditions before prospective team leads.
At the end of a quite long and drawn out interview process, where all the feedback I received was very positive, I did not get an offer. The HR rep who left a message on my phone said that they felt I 'would get bored' in this job.

Code up and solve a simulation of Conway's game of life
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Shopify (Waterloo, ON) in Jun 2018
Interview
They were looking to hire in Waterloo, ON, Canada. The first round was a life story interview and one of the most unique interviews I've given. The hiring manager was very friendly and showed me her puppy during the interview. A very informal and great experience. She was genuinely interested to know my passions and how I reached where I am today. The next round was a technical round and I was asked to code in Python. The problem statement was not very hard but was not what I expected.
