Question 1
Technical interview really easy some one already mention the problem about the fruits
I applied online. I interviewed at Shopify in Feb 2021
Interview
I applied on their website in February, about 2 weeks after, I got an email from the HR person with an invitation for a technical test. You can book the interview on a calendar, the dates to choose were flexible.
The day of the interview came, when the call first started, the person went straight to explain what was the technical test about, no hello, how are you? small chat, or anything to get the atmosphere a bit more relax or conformable before getting into business
The test was about an algorithmic that need it to be sorted according to a piece of data with only strings. It was not really difficult, you have the choice to get help with google. I manage to come with a solution, but I was a bit nervous, did not show a lot of confidence in some moments, the interviewer did not show any sympathy or support while that was happening. As you know, coding in front of someone with the pressure of the interview, also doing this inside some browser tool that pretends to be a code editor but clearly less effective, can really make you look way more insecure and slow than in a real job.
The interviewer was probably the less emphatic, charismatic person I have ever face in an interview, and probably the most intimidating one, it really felt like she was not enjoying at all being in the call and she wanted to finish it asp. You wonder how people like this can be decision-makers when it comes to hiring, independently from their technical knowledge
If this person got in the company, to me shows that Spotify hires have some wholes, they do not even ask the candidate to give their experience feedback, they assume it is right.
Thank God Glassdoor exist
