I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Shopify (Auckland, ) in Feb 2021
Interview
I applied for the role via the website and it took approximately 1 day or so to receive an email inviting me to the next stage of process which was a “Chat Interview”. The email explained it was a casual chat about my previous successes and experiences inside and outside of work, my work experience, connect with a new person and answer any questions I may have.
The chat interview times were all midnight - early hours of the morning. I emailed to request a different time and advised of my hours of work so we could find a time that suited. I had to send a follow up email as I hadn’t heard back and I was then able to pick another time.
The interview was informal. The interviewer was very casual, friendly and didn’t seem to look like she had done a lot of interviews before. I studied reviews on here prior to the interview so I felt prepared. I was asked about my most recent role which was fine however I felt like the interviewer didn’t read over my CV well as my current role didn’t relate to the role I was applying for, however the previous roles listed (6 years of being a customer service advisor in similar roles) were more relevant. The questions were quite simple, but I didn’t feel like they were the right questions to ask for an interview.
I heard back about 2 days later that I didn’t get the role. I did give feedback regarding the interview and explained that the interviewer wanted to hear about my current role as it sounds interesting (government) rather than asking about my previous work experience relating to this role and felt like the questions didn’t get to know me as a person or know my experience I can bring and I was advised “ Our particular interview format allows for great conversation and I can understand that it can be hard to read at times”.
I have now found an amazing NZ company that I have just accepted a job with so this was a blessing in disguise and after reading the feedback on Glassdoor, I think I’m glad I didn’t get the role with Shopify or go any further with the process.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Londres, Inglaterra) in May 2022
Interview
The process was straight forward, I filled out the form on the Shopify website from which it took about 2 days to hear back with an invite to a lifestyle interview. There it was just about getting to know me and how I got on the road that has led me to apply for this position.
After that I was invited to a technical interview which consisted of 2 chats and a Email.
Overall I highly recommend creating a test store before the technical interview as it helped out a lot in preparation.
The whole process took about a month
