I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Nov 2023
Interview
Very strange process and company culture. Information siloed intentionally, meaning recruiter knows very little about the role and hiring manager claims not to know compensation. They try and keep comp hidden until final stage, wasting hours of your time. There's more time spent making sure you're fine with supporting merchants you don't align with ideologically than assessing fit for the role. Seems like a high turnover company and they post several roles with similar descriptions and responsibilities for months at a time.

Question 1
When was a time you had to support a company you didn't like? Why Shopify?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Aug 2025
Interview
Not done yet, but completed an interview with the hiring manager and a life story interview with a recruiter. Both were professional and asked appropriate questions that weren't 'fluff'. They are definitely focused on how you've already been using AI in your work, and giving STAR answers impress them.

The process was human, fast and good sense of cultural fit throughout the entire process. Technology was efficient for booking multiple interviews. Positive overall experience with the right number of stages.
