The hiring process at Shopify takes an average of 29 days when considering 2 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Lead Software Engineer had the quickest hiring process (on average 1 day), whereas Senior relevance engineer roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 56 days).
Applied on-line. Within a week I received e-mail that I wasn' a match for the position. I was sure that I will get at least an interview. Having many years of professional experience in travel industry should be looked at as the advantage, but I was wrong. The criteria for this position were, at least to say, ambiguous. The generic e-mail reply doesn't make sense.

Question 1
2 standard questions in on-line applications. I think these kind of questions are passe.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Aug 2019
Interview
First you get a talk with HR, standard stuff.
Then there was a one hour technical interview, which consisted of technical questions and a coding exercise. It was a little bit weird. The guy said right away that he's not a mobile dev at all, he doesn't know any frameworks or languages related to mobile and he's a web developer only knows Ruby. Then he said that regarding the exercise it doesn't matter how you do it or your style of coding, what matters is that you get it in time and the results match their test cases.
So, I did everything in time, my results matched every test case that he had. In a few days I got a rejection letter, standard stuff, no explanation nothing. I asked for an additional feedback - no answer, of course.
Waste of time and energy.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Aug 2018
Interview
life story interview, one-on-one interview, multiple one-on-one interviews
it was a mix of single interviews, ending with multiple one-on-one interviews with multiple people back-to-back. Very casual process and vibe. there was also a technical component where I had to suggest what I would write
