I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Shopify in Jul 2021
Interview
1) Recruiter Screen
2) Portfolio sent to Hiring Manager
3) 1 hour presentation to Hiring Manger and Team Manager of two projects
4) 1 hour problem solving exercise
5) 1:1 conversation with a Design Manger
6) 1 hour presentation to another Design Manager
The process was long and fairly difficult but executed very professionally. It was a pleasure working with their recruiting team. They sent an Uber Eats gift card to order food during break on interview day.
*Note, you will need a 3.5 hour chunk of time for final interview.
Very thoughtful process and considerate approach with me as a candidate, I've got valuable feedback and tips along the way. Some interviewers were cold and harsh, but that's likely everywhere.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Jun 2020
Interview
Very casual, respectful and welcoming. I had a brief chat with the recruiter. After that, an hour of deep-dive one project presentation from my portfolio, a life story interview with the recruiter, interview with members of the team, manager, and a white-boarding challenge.
