I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify
Interview
- Initial HR screening call
- Life Story: asked to describe your career. I think I did ok, took up most of the time
- Code Exercise: extremely easy, was about fizzbuzz level
Got feedback a few days later that they've frozen hiring and only hiring for critical roles. Complete waste of time. Proving again that Canadian tech is trash.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (New York, NY) in Dec 2021
Interview
Multiple interviews including an initial screen, a life story, and three separate technical interviews with 5 separate developers.
The life story was a little awkward because the interviewer joined the call about 10 minutes late and informed me she had to leave 15 minutes early. Other than the time restraint, she was warm and provided immediate feedback.
The technical interviews were mixed. I enjoyed the logic question but found the front-end question to be too complex for a 45 minute interview. The question involved recreating a complex element with several possible toggles, inputs and states.

Question 1
I choose to no divulge their technical questions.
As for the life story interview, the interviewer let me pick where I wanted to start with my life story and proceeded to give me the floor.

2 coding rounds
One of the coding rounds required setting up a web service on your machine which I wasn't prepared for
