I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Sep 2020
Interview
I joined the Shopify engineering community on LinkedIn. In September 2020, a recruiter reached out to me, asking if I was interested in finding more about Shopify engineering opportunities. I had two rounds of interviews. First, was the coder pad challenge where a Shopify engineer watched as I completed a fairly straightforward programming challenge. A few days later, I was contacted for the second round which entailed describing my career life story. I did not make it past the second round interview.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Shopify (Calgary, AB) in Oct 2020
Interview
I've had one interview over the phone after being contacted. The interview was average and the interviewer pleasant and professional. Unfortunately, Shopify tells you that they will let you know one way or the other whether you are still under consideration or have been ruled out, yet instead they ghosted me (so far anyway). A couple years ago as well, I applied to an advertised position on their website, received an email claiming I would hear back either way, but there was no follow-up.

The initial interview questions for a developer are fairly typical, such as asking for descriptions of projects, challenges, and background.
Hey, thanks for sharing your experience here.
I can understand how it would be frustrating to be turned down for a role and to not have feedback in return. This is not something that happens often here - following up with a candidate after the interview is part of our interview process! I would encourage you to reach back out to the recruiter who interviewed you to inquire about gathering feedback. Alternatively, we could take this conversation to email so that we can inquire with our talent team for you.
Be sure to send us an email including as many details as you can (ie/ your interview date and the name of your recruiter), then we can begin digging into it for you. You can send us an email using this link: (https://bit.ly/2ICKkCX). Adding 'Glassdoor' as the subject link of the email will ensure we can find your email faster.
Thank you again for posting here, and for flagging this with our team.
It was an average question using coderpad. You can pick the language of your choice and they helped and gave tips. The style was very much like pair programming. Interviewer was knowledgeable and friendly.
