I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA) in May 2016
Interview
Do not waste your time doing the take home exercise for this company unless they pay you! Got contacted by the recruiter, was told about the interview process and was given the take home exercise. Finished the exercise over the weekend was then contacted by the recruiter saying the that the exercise looked good and scheduled a call with the Hiring Manager. Had the 1 hour call with the hiring manager and was immediately asked to go for the on-site interview. Was interviewed by three pairs of engineer/managers/qa. I was NOT asked a single technical question! All the questions were about the QA process. The last interviewer(s) did not show up due to family emergency and I did not even get a chance to speak with the hiring manager directly. Two days after the interview I was contacted by the recruiter and was told that the team found me weak on the OOP concepts!!!

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2016
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me via email and we spoke over the phone. Several days later, I spoke with an engineering manager for about 30 minutes, also on the phone. Positive conversation, though they seem narrow minded about the technology they use and I found it difficult to gauge what exactly they are looking for the position.
Immediately afterward, I received an email with the technical exercise and a deadline. No one asked me about my timetable before sending me the exercise, but I went ahead with it. The exercise was described as the entire technical criteria for the process. It was a straightforward web engineering task, and I was asked to use vanilla JavaScript throughout. I was thorough when completing the exercise and felt fine about what I sent in.
About a week later, I received an impersonal rejection form email. There were no details or feedback, and there was no further communication from anyone at the company.
