I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toptal in Dec 2021
Interview
***NO ROOM FOR NEGOTIATION***
I was trying to negotiate for a higher comp after receiving an offer but I made it clear that I really valued this opportunity and $ is definitely not the only deciding factor. Surprisingly, they rescinded my offer right away without giving me a chance to negotiate. Unfortunately this validates those negative reviews that Toptal treats their employees as properties and this toxic culture explains the high turnover rate...
The positive side is that the interview process was fairly quick. Here is a run down of the interview process:
1. 30min recruiter screen
2. A case study in which I was given a prompt to prepare a presentation
3. 1-hour interview with the hiring manager and went over the presentation
4. 1-hour interview with a peer
5. 1-hour interview with a peer
6. Cultural interview with someone from another team
The interviews were scheduled on consecutive days.
I was actually glad that they rescinded my offer because I landed a few much better opportunities later:)
I had an interview with a recruiter as part of the hiring process. The conversation included specific questions related to the role and my previous experience. The interview was structured and focused on assessing my fit for the position and understanding my background in similar tasks.

Question 1
to walk through my entire design process live, from understanding the problem to delivering a solution for a specific case
The process was very comprehensive, and the interviewers were very good at what they were doing. The first phase is quite easy, but when it comes to the later stages that's where the weeding comes out. Overall a challenging interview.
Recruiter kept me well informed throughout the process. They also provided documents about the company and benefits which was appreciative. You’re also expected to take an assessment during the process.
