I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Toptal (Montreal, QC) in Nov 2018
Interview
I got reschedule to re-apply at a later date because the interviewer felt my work was great but my presentation lacked details of the process. Despite the fact that the outline said to choose 6 pieces of work and briefly describe it. There was also a bit of discrepancy of how I approached certain things which is hard to pinpoint without showing a full platform. After the interview I have learned that my interviewer had less than 5 years of experience in design and UX field and his major in college and graduating degree was in a completely unrelated field. I am not sure how you can claim you hire top 3% of the talent into this company when your interviewer is a junior designer with a mediocre experience at best. Needless to say I won't be joining this company again. I am not inclined of having my experience judged by someone who has no idea what they are doing.

Interview
The interview process was a total waste of time and the interviewers were totally rude. I should have read the reviews before applying. They make you submit a portfolio first. You have 7 days to submit it. On the portfolio you have to talk about 6 projects. Then they let you know if you are good enough to schedule a call. Anyway long story short, They did schedule a call with me and at the end they rejected me because my UI wasn't good enough....couldn't they tell me after they reviewed my portfolio that I submitted? on top of that you don't reject someone over the interview. They good practice is to let them know via email. Totally rude. oh and I checked out the interviewers portfolio. There was nothing special about their UI.
