I applied online. I interviewed at Visa Inc. (Atlanta, GA) in Aug 2025
Interview
After a three-month waiting period, I was contacted by Visa and was pleased by the prompt scheduling of an interview. I appreciated that they sent materials outlining their company values and a guide to the STAR interview process, which suggested a well-structured approach.
However, the interview was the exact opposite of what the materials suggested. The interviewer was unprepared to conduct a standard behavioral or scenario-based interview. He immediately and repeatedly asked me to list the specific deliverables I would be responsible for in the role. When I tried to explain my senior leadership experience, which focuses on roadmapping, high-level strategy, stakeholder alignment, and risk mitigation, he became visibly frustrated.
He appeared to be looking for a very specific, tactical answer, rather than a discussion of how my experience could benefit the company. I have never had an interview where the interviewer was so focused on a task list and so unwilling to engage in a professional conversation about the broader responsibilities of a senior role. This was a truly baffling and negative experience. Thye probably needed a college or high-school graduate for this role. The first thing I did immediately after the interview was to withdraw my application as there was no way to work for such a backward thinking employer
