I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at World Bank Group in Jan 2013
Interview
I have sent my CV and cover letter and have been called for an interview 2 or 3 months after. The interview took place at the WB country office and consisted in a video-conference with staff in DC and in other locations. They asked me a lot of questions about my past and current job experiences, including some situational judgement questions.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at World Bank Group in Sep 2010
Interview
There was a total of about 6 interviews; 4 over the phone and 2 in person. The first phone interview was with my immediate supervisor and two other officers that I would have to work with. The second phone interview was with the regional manager for the department. The third phone interview was with HR and the fourth phone interview was with another officer who I would later work with. The first face to face interview was with my immediate supervisor and my second face to face interview was with two officers from another department who work in the local office. The interviews all revolved around the same questions, what was my experience like in my previous job, why did I want to work for IFC, what did I know about IFC, what would I bring to the team etc etc. Fairly generic. Advice for other interview candidates is be honest, research the company before going into the interview, and be confident. There is no predicting what they may ask as the company is very very diverse and each position even within the same department, has very specific requirements. Be sure to review your job description as well and expect that what it says about the position may not be all that you are required to do.
