The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at X in May 2015
Interview
Got in touch with Twitter people through personal connections. Had 1st phone interview with hiring manager. Was pretty straight forward, just asked about my background and experience and we went through the role and challenges.
We scheduled another interview with another Engineering Manager, he arrived late so we rescheduled. The second time, it was straight into system design, choice of database, modularity, scalability...

Question 1
1st: Why twitter? Tell me about who you are, what you do.
2nd: Describe how you would build a web service that serves movie listings from cinemas around you.
The interview process is very chaotic. They seems to churn you out like cattle. There is a very dead feeling about the interview process. I guess being Twitter they see a lot of candidates.

Question 1
What is your situation where you failed and what did you learn from this failure?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at X (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2013
Interview
When they wanted to convince you to come in and talk to them, they could be aggressive and relentless. The processes was very unstructured. There was not any processes. The hiring managers didn't know what they were looking for. They didn't have any plan on what the position would do. They had no answers for any of my questions.
After spending $ to drive up and park my car and meet with them, they went silence. I didn't get an answer back about my candidacy even after pinging them. So, I suppose I am out.
A little courtesy to tell your candidate what is happening is a good idea. It remains to be seen if Twitter will be as successful as Google or Facebook. But judging at the hiring practice, it is way worse.

Question 1
There was no tough question. The hiring managers didn't know what they were looking for so there weren't any questions. The whole company was disorganized and my impression was that the culture was like the wild wild west.
