Traditional performance management systems have received increased criticism and been abandoned by leading edge companies over the past decade plus for not supporting companies in meeting organizational goals. Complaints about the traditional performance evaluation system include: it’s not a good use of time, feedback comes to staff members too late and/or the feedback is a surprise, and it distracts from the actual work that employees need to get done. There has been a growing movement around abandoning traditional annual performance reviews and replacing them with more agile systems that better meet employee needs. For reference, no data has suggested that any company that abandons a traditional performance evaluation system has returned to it, or seen a decline in individual performance, organizational culture, or meeting goals as a result. 1. Given this information, what would your recommendations be for FAS around performance management? 2. What additional information or data would you want to collect?
