Pros

The diversity of industries in which Accenture has clients offers consulting workforce employees the ability to gain experience across the board and allows you a chance to learn more about where you want to develop.

Cons

If you've started at Accenture right out of school your salary (or lack thereof) is based entirely on your major. While they attempt to promote an image of merit based rewards chances are overwhelmingly strong that you will never catch up to a peer that had a technical or engineering degree even if you are doing the exact same role or do it better. If you feel that pay if offset by recognition of accomplishments you may need to have your spouse give you a pat on the back because it's not frequent to get it out of upper management. Some say because it's high expectations, more realistically it's because most of the managers and senior leadership are where they're at because of time with the company and not because of their leadership abilities.

Pros

My direct mgmt communicates openly and well. Flex hours, teleworking, autonomy. Retiree healthcare still in place. Good projects and a chance to "show your stuff" if you are inclined to go there. Good people with good intentions and potential but limited support due to "old" Andersen mentality.

Cons

Poor 401K match especially with no traditional retirement package. Too long from hire date to eligibility for 401K match...12 to 18 months!!! Very poor severance plan for Services sector. Healthcare plan in USA needs some work. Copays are too high. Service from providers not at optimum. Prescription drug plan flawed. PTO plan encourages people to work sick and come back to work too soon from surgeries. Too few holidays in the USA. Off the norm by 3 days or more. Need salary increases to keep pace with healthcare premium cost increases at least. Managers need more input to salary and bonus amounts....all dictated by HR. Need more experienced hires if company is to progress....too many new grads just don't know how to get the job done.

Pros

This company has lots of real estate (pun intended) to allow a self motivated person to learn, grow and move around the organization. I would whole heartedly recommend Accenture for a new college graduate, technical person in developing country or technology / business professional whom has stalled in their career and needs some fresh wind/challenge. Overall Accenture is a great technology company that will provide a spring board and wealth of professional contacts as you grow, rebuild and reposition your career.

Cons

Accenture is investing heavily in low cost and developing IT areas for call centers and backend support. The financial incentives for experienced technology workers in the US are not what they used to be. Albeit there's still opportunity but its harder to get at. I guess this could be an indicator to the saturatng need for IT services and outsourcing in the American markets and Accenture's already large size.
