Pros

Good pay, lot of room to grow, cool tech, very welcoming and international colleagues. Awesome offices as well.

Cons

The culture at Adyen was great pre-COVID and adapted well during the pandemic, but over the past year and a half, there have been noticeable changes. Ever since COVID ended, there has been a gradual shift towards micromanagement and excessive control. More than half of the company's workforce was hired during the pandemic, a period when the company was thriving. During that time, leadership delivered numerous speeches praising everyone for their dedication in overcoming challenges, emphasizing the importance of flexibility, and promoting trust in one another to get the job done, regardless of where we were working. Yet, as soon as COVID disappeared, this sentiment vanished. Mandatory in-office days and rigid bureaucratic rules were implemented without consideration for individual circumstances. The experience at Adyen transformed from feeling like you were part of a cool community building something amazing to feeling like you were a cog in a machine that didn't care about you at all. "You've got this" has turned into "fall in line". Both the people and tech are both unique at this company, and it's a shame to see the culture on a forced downward spiral. The top level management's attitude is my way or the highway, and I suspect a lot of us will choose the highway.

Pros

People are friendly, prefer to call are chat instead of e-mails, good onboarding program. Most people seem to really like their job and colleagues.

Cons

I decided to write this seeing the new review "Dont believe the hype. Be careful." in which everything I read sound like something I noticed or experienced in my first two months. The only possible conclusion I can draw from what I observe is that Adyen overhires people and uses probation period as a casting to observe you, give no guidance or feedback and see who swims and who sinks, so be really careful and think twice before you decide to quit your job for Adyen. Feedback is non-existent, people will assure you with a fake smile that everything is going well, and if something is wrong they will only tell your manager. The managers I dealt with lacked basic knowledge how to lead a team, coach new team members or give feedback. The 'create your own path' part of the formula is how they justify poor management skills, lack of training and feedback. The interpersonal parts of the formula that could not be stressed more during the interviews are non-existent. I regret ignoring all the negative reviews I have read here. The politics, fakeness, poor management and outdated tools used by developers are real and make this company a really bad place to be. + Low salary and no bonus
