Pros

Pay was fair to middling, good emphasis on safety

Cons

Constant reorganisations and redundancies stripping experience and knowledge from the company, seemingly to reduce pension liabilities following the ICI takeover and keep shareholders happy. That worked well but you lost the goodwill of your remaining workforce so that many of the talented people left took off too

Pros

Every Wednesday they provided fresh fruit, lots of perks for management and administrative personnel. Laid back atmosphere

Cons

Akzo Nobel was a nice place to work but they do not set their employees up for success. Training is non-existent and the workload is exceedingly heavy. The people are nice. If you're familiar with manufacturing and you don't mind working long hours, this is a great place to be. They do promote from within.
