Pros

Medical cover / facilities are good, Organization has a lean culture, accepts diversity, pays at par with market upon joining, job security, under performers also provided chance to make up, opportunities to learn and grow, opportunities to work overseas

Cons

Struggle for work life balance is real here, and giving same feedback for several years but no real change speaks for itself. There are good opportunities to learn and grow, but limitations posed by routine activities; management lacks intent to keep operations simple, and instability in work environment, office culture due to frequent movements in top management, loss on variable pay due to company underperforming, HR tactics deployed to keep people cost in control with poor hikes, promotion hurdles

Pros

1. Supportive Team Environment: Most colleagues and immediate team members were collaborative and helpful, which made day-to-day work manageable and sometimes even enjoyable. 2. Opportunities for Self-Initiated Projects: I had the chance to explore tasks outside my core role, which helped me discover my interest in Learning & Development.

Cons

1. Lack of Role Clarity and Growth. 2. Rigid Hierarchies and Slow Decision-Making: Ideas for innovation or role changes often got stuck in layers of approvals, making it hard to pivot or grow internally.

Pros

Pros: Genuine People: AkzoNobel is home to many genuinely good individuals, including some within the management team. This can create a supportive atmosphere for newcomers. Career Stepping Stone: For those new to the industry, working at AkzoNobel can provide valuable initial experience, serving as a stepping stone in one’s career.

Cons

Safety Concerns: There is a notable lack of commitment to safety, which is a significant issue that needs urgent attention. Leadership and Transparency Issues: The leadership at AkzoNobel often struggles with transparency and effectiveness. This can lead to unclear directives and unstable team dynamics, making the working environment challenging. Unfair HR Practices: I observed questionable practices concerning career progression and compensation, including manipulated job descriptions to justify lower pay or deny promotions. Such practices undermine trust and morale among employees. Gatekeeping Practices: There is an excessive amount of gatekeeping, which restricts access to necessary information and resources, hindering task execution and professional development. High Turnover: The combination of these issues contributes to a high turnover rate, indicating that while AkzoNobel is good for gaining initial experience, it may not be suitable for long-term career development.
