      Area Manager - not as awesome as advertised

      Pay, incentives, restricted stock units

      Cons

      Work long hours that makes the salary not worth it (FYI - I didn’t think that the 14-16 hour days could be true, but they are!) difficult process of systematic discussions and write ups to terminate bad employees, cut-throat management competition where managers work against each other to advance rather than working together as a team

      Pros

      Compensation - Competitive Salary + Signing Bonus + RSU’s Fast-Paced environment - always on the go 4-day work weeks (outside of Peak/Prime Day week/OT weeks) Good hiring decisions - most managers are smart, driven, fun people. Tons of promotional opportunities due to network expansion. Constantly changing/improving (can be seen as a con to those who don’t adapt well to change)

      Cons

      Work-Life Balance (No surprise since Bezos doesn’t consider it something that exists). Super high standards - nothing ever seems good enough. No night shift differential for nights managers - what??? Long shifts - associates have 10 hour shifts, but managers realistically put in 13-15 hour shifts. Area Managers are, at times, viewed as free labor in order to save on the bottom line. Low-performing managers are not managed out well, causing more strain and demand to average and high-performing counterparts.

      - office well located - relocation bonus

      Cons

      - salary is too low if you wish to get a nice place to live and spare some money ; - shifts 6.30 to 15.30 or 11.00 - 20.00 ; - work on weekends - overtime encouraged and not compensated - bonus for spoken language included in the salary can be cancelled if you change the position and it is not useful for the new position.
