Pros

adding another big tech profile to your resume if you are joining from another big tech. if you are new to big tech, everything is a pro

Cons

financially, it was the worse move of my career, after 2 years of joining i earn less than what i used to make at my previous employment by 100k!!! recruiters don't explain how compensation works, misleading you with the offer. bonus is peanuts compared to my previous employer (high performer got 2% increase vs >20% at my previous employer) - no cash bonus for performance review (only RSU) - RSU awarded at performance review is only available after a year - no merit increase, the merit increase (2%) is considered a performance review award - performance doesn't translate to a significant financial award, the company uses promotions for a meaningful increase in pay. - a grinder culture where managers need to stack rank every month - primitive productivity tools: a tool for chat, a talk for calls, a tool for writing and tool for reviewing, no office 365, primitive developer tools - death by process - majority of time is spent reading or writing docs.

Pros

The company is great environment if you are looking to learn from the best. The amount of resources to develop yourself and challenge yourself is second to non. The pace is face and intense, I used to run 3-4 projects in parallel before I joined Amazon, I could not any after I joined and felt I was doing a new job every year.

Cons

I believe the company is on the decline. We can now see more and more day-2 behaviors in various organizations (risk averse leadership, lack of bold strategic vision, mid-management non-sense).

Pros

Work hard. Make history. Have fun. You work with the smartest people with the best talent on problems that other companies never face given the global scale, volume and response requirements demanded. You'll learn more in one year at Amazon than you will with five at other companies given the challenges you face given the pace.

Cons

Company has lost some edge in past 3-5 years as newer mid-/senior- level leadership have not embraced nor enforce the leadership principles as part of everyday work as was done in the past. Depending upon the team or area the workload can be excessive making work-life harmony difficult to achieve - just set your limits and you should be fine.
