Pros

ArcelorMittal values people. That's, I think, one of the most important values this company has. Value people = personnal/work life balance, career opportunities, professional growth, benefits. The working environment is very democratic, everyone's opinion is taken into consideration. You feel you are respected and your efforts are appreciated. I've been working here for mor than 5 years now, and I have made friends for life at work. If you're struggling with something, there is always some one to land a hand. This makes the environment lighter, and very collaborative. But, don't get me wrong, we're challenged all the time, but I see that in a very positive way. Makes me stronger, better.

Cons

Too much democracy can lead to losing focus, and I feel sometimes things take longer than it should be. I gave 4 stars to Career Opportunities, because despite there is a lot of opportunities, keep in mind not all of them are for everybody. It all depends on what you do and how prepared you are. I gave 4 stars to Work/Life balance as well. Actually, we have flexible hours, but at the end of the day I work more than the regular 8 hours a day (or 40 hours a week). Management is pretty flexible when it comes to working hours and very respectful to my time and personal needs. But, you gotta love what you do, because it is very intense.

AM/NS Calvert - Be cautious!

Pros

The pay was great, the best co-workers I've ever had! Good training classes/programs.

Cons

Very poor management. Employees that do not do their share of work and miss a lot of time are allowed to get away with it, while really good employees who work hard and never miss work take up the slack and do not get recognized for it. Too many audits after company takeover last year, and after a few months went by after the buyout the extreme changes started coming. I was harshly interrogated for two hours and then put on suspension for 3 weeks for something that I did not do and they never had proof (because it didn't exist) but lost my job anyway for "violation of company policy" but they could not tell me which policy. This all came from the corporate office and our local HR department knew nothing and could give me no information. Consulting a lawyer. The bad thing is that I absolutely loved my job and always received high reviews, never missed work, and have very high work ethic. This was devastating and out of the blue! The way this was handled is absolutely horrific!

Pros

For the most part; smart, hard working and friendly colleagues. Dynamic multi-cultural environment. Some very good managers. Employee engagement is improving. Communication internally is very good. Internal university and training is a plus. Culture and values are positive.

Cons

Low salary comparatively with other jobs in Luxembourg. Few opportunities for increasing salary. A few disappointing managers. Cost reduction environment makes it stressful and most people seem unhappy. Career planning is poor. Benefits have been reduced over the years to save costs. No tuition reimbursement plan.
