Pros

Some of the machinery you get to see is nothing short of awesome. I greatly enjoyed learning about the steelmaking process and the ins and outs of the industry Benefits are some of the best I've ever seen. The 401k match is great - they pay 6% for your first 5% contribution. Quarterly bonuses can be great if the company is making money. Lot of great people at this company, unfortunately with a company this large there will always be some bad apples. Locations are good for the most part. Most locations allow for city living or suburbs, whichever you prefer.

Cons

Definitely a "good old boys" environment. The steel industry is a very old one, and there are definitely people in very high ranking positions just because they had been there a long time Focus too much on new employees and recruiting, and not retaining employees. This is speaking from someone who did experience being spoiled early on as a new college recruit - which was great, but show appreciation for those that have been with the company 5-10 years as well. Transfer employees to new departments and locations without involving them in the decision at all. Simply point the finger and say "show up to this new department next week." Does not make employees feel like they have any say in their career path.
