Pros

Great benefits Can’t think of anything else

Cons

1. Adversarial & toxic environment 2. Poor work/ life balance 3. Poorly implemented SAFe & scrum practices 5. Poor planning If you want to be a member of a scrum team that meets 2 hrs per week for a 15 page team working agreement, then Assurant is the place for you. If you want to be a member of a scrum team that’s micro-managed, Assurant is is the place for you. Self-forming scrum teams are a myth. If you want to be a member of a scrum team that disrespected by the leadership team, then Assurant is the place for ya. Scrum Masters refuse to accept they are servant leaders NOT dev managers. Finally, if you want to be a member of a scrum team that really doesn’t adhere to the scrum methodology, then Assurant is the place for you.

Great work life balance

Pros

Great work-life balance and benefits. My supervisor was great too. Expectations are easy to meet. Most people are great to work with and very professional. Very supportive culture.

Cons

CEO and many other sr execs are woke and seem to have more concern for political correctness than profits - the CEO has said as much on conference calls. My office had a lot of opinionated liberals - conservatives and moderates kept quiet as they felt their views didn't fit. Infighting among teams. Some of the teams are not accountable for their own deadlines that they set. Very disorganized culture from HR (no onboarding) to finance errors(lost money) etc. Company is need of restructuring.

A great place to hide

Pros

Above standard 401k match, pockets of ambitious, motivated people

Cons

On one half the company, middle / upper management is biding their time to collect pensions and not incentivized to deliver/change. Risk aversion and territoriality makes it difficult to improve processes and launch new offerings. On the other half of the company, business segments are fragmented and don't communicate with each other. Real world example: A business segment will hear an idea being implemented in another business segment, take that idea and rush an offering to market to claim credit but without fully understanding the problem, impact, or solution.
