Worst CEO and EMPLOYER

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

None other than a regular low pay.

Cons

This is a large employer who has a very bad track record in treating their employees with any sort of humanity or concern for their well-being as people. Their only concern is money, money, money. Their employees are badly paid and Autecon are inflexible with their employment conditions, their only interest is in making a profit, and their staff are treated badly. They totally disregard the conditions of fair work of Australia and flout this law continually . Do not, do not, I suggest work with this crowd. They have a new CEO who is ruthless and un concerned about people. It’s all about profit for her and her management team.

Pros

If you want to cruise, layback and make a good paycheck work here. No pressure, people are generally nice, warm and fuzzy culture.

Cons

Very mediocre people and leadership. Just not very smart people. It’s like working for the government. Slow, clumsy, usless divisions, silos and old fashioned thinking. Job gets done but nothing special. Recently lots of cuts, a lot of lies trying to sell a good story. They are saying they are doing better now but it’s really because of people leaving and low pay raises whilst charging us out at a higher rate.

Pros

Nice office interior. People are generally friendly. Some great individuals.

Cons

Leadership does nothing when complaints of bullying behaviour is raised. I am a high performing employee with performance ratings of 'excelled', fantastic client feedback, fantastic feedback from my team members, and generally have excelled at everything thrown at me, across technical management, team leadership and client relationship building. I have never received negative feedback from any of my colleagues. However my direct line manager has treated me appallingly, with non professional behaviour including: -yelling at me infont of my team to discredit me in my technical area, despite her not having my qualifications (I am an RPEQ, she is not eligible), - isolating me by removing me from meetings, - telling my direct reports to request a line manager change because I am not good, - playing political games by telling lies about me to other people, - taking credit for my achievements, - blaming me for not fixing mistakes other people make that I am unaware of, - lying directly to my face about other peoples feedback (quickly found out so not even good attempts), - not including me in bids because of her dislike, despite my skills being specifically suited to a proposal, -attacking me publicly infont of others; and the list goes on. When I talked with her about her behaviour, she told me to leave the company because she was not going to change. I then complained to HR and senior management, and zero action has been taken to resolve the conflict in over 6 months. This woman has caused several people to quit (all engineers) and there are several others (mostly women) she has yelled at in the office and not behaved in a respectful way to. I have come to the conclusion that she hates engineers because she is a planner and cannot overrule the project RPEQ. The business has chosen to support her, despite the behaviour being clearly communicated as the reason several engineers have quit. It is disappointing from a company that continually says 'respecting others' a key value. I would not recommend this company for engineers in the transport industry, particularly for women. Anyone more senior than 7 years experience will have a terrible time because of this one individual. This behaviour is limiting opportunities and will make a significant turnover happen.
