Pros

-Large company with many jobs -Lots of free products and samples -Decent work environment for retail -Very structured business model

Cons

-Hardly any hours, usually 15 is considered good for a sales associate (at minimum wage, you'd better have another job or two!) -Major micro-managing by sales leads and store manager, often treated employees like children (this may have just been the manager I had, she was very hyperactive) -Floor sets are HORRIBLE!! We were never given enough time or employee hours for the complexity of the floorsets, often had to stay till 1AM or later for the big ones. Supplies were not adequate (things like fishing wire that had to be cut for hanging props instead of pre-set hangers) and we rarely were given all the product that was required in the model picture. -Pay is not great, but about average compared to similar jobs -The discount was 15% I think, which was pitiful since most of the sales we had worked out to be a better price than our discount!

Pros

They expect nothing but the best from their employees. Very difficult for incompetent employees to slip through the cracks.

Cons

In my personal experience, I was worked like a dog. Not a whole lot of praise for doing well, but a heck of a lot of criticism for screwing up.

Pros

Freebies I honestly can't think of any other reason to work at Bath & Body Works because I was treated so poorly while there.

Cons

poor management very shady practices The management made it known that the favorites would get more hours then everyone else. The store went from 20 people to 74 and many core associates were taken from cashiering/ sales associate and placed in the backroom. This wouldn't have been a problem had it not been during Black Friday and the days leading to Christmas. Which begs the question, why would you place all the new people in the front when they don't know the scents? Many of them had to learn on their feet about the store. There isn't a questionaire or learning session, it's simply sink or swim. I tried to help them as best as I could. Shortly after Christmas, my hours were then cut from 10-15 a week to 3 hours of a "maybe you'll work" shift every two weeks. There's no room for growth in the company as so few of the sales associates become managers or co-managers/ store managers. In terms of shady practices, there's been times when people have started working and were cut 20 to 5 minutes into a shift and a call-in was asked to come in. (If you're not making hours, why would you have a call-in come in to work and not use the real shift person?) Or how about the fact that in the backroom, I've had products almost hit my head from 3 to 6 feet above me. I've slipped and fallen on boxes that were supposed to have been placed in their proper area. I've had my employment threatened by the manager on the basis that I had a friends only facebook and my friends commented on something I had talked to them in private. Because it's considered public and the company made us sign forms talking about the company, I was told it was a strike against me.
