Pros

gain experience in sales, gain familiarity with all of the products, gain experience operating cash registers and cleaning, decent employee discount, resetting for each new season or sale was my favorite part of the job

Cons

If there are no customers in the store, it is extremely boring and all you do is straighten the rows of products. There were no benefits for part-time employees at all except free samples on occasion. The two managers I worked under were passionate about their jobs, but not very competent. That job convinced me I needed a college degree so I wouldn't have to stock shelves for the rest of my life.

Pros

Great products and lots of avenues for promotion. As far as the company operations, Bath and Body Works is competent and there is excellent communication coming from upper management.

Cons

As a store manager, I was getting paid $55,000 a year to ring on a register for about 6-7 hours a day. The other 2-3 hours I was stocking shelves. It was usually myself with just 1 other person in the whole store. No time to analyze the business or train and develop my employees. There was not enough payroll to keep the store well stocked, organized, and clean. Most of the employees, including myself, worked constantly at a fast pace, however, it was impossible to run that store up to standard with such little payroll hours allotted. As the store manager, I had to create the schedule. During the holidays, with more than 100 part time employees, the schedule could take me up to 6 hours to complete which I had to do on my day off.

Pros

Extra cash On a good day can be enjoyable. Most customers are very pleasant and fun to help.

Cons

There's really more bad than good here. Few hours, minimum wage , you're not appreciated, one person tells you to do something, then you're done and you're told it didn't matter since it was going to be removed from the wall anyway...that's the usual. Management pays attention to detail when it comes to things that don't matter so much, yet ignore or don't even realize some things that are way more visible and less attractive to customers than the things they are having us fix. It feels like you're doing a lot more work than what you are paid to do. It seems you are punished for being fast and efficient because they just give you more to do once your done with one task. It has also been made difficult for me to transfer to a place more convenient for me. A difference of 40 minutes of drive time with traffic and 15 minutes without. Positions are available, so I don't know what the hold up is. I am told that I am a great employee and good at sales, but the only compensation I get is being the greeter in zone 1 and standing around like a fool. I don't think I am above any of this, I would just like to feel that I am getting paid adequately for my time and especially for the energy that I put into sales versus other associates. It's hard to care when you don't feel it matters.
